Lester Duval

MUSICIAN, PRODUCER, ENGINEER, WRITER, SOMETIMES RAPPER, JACK OF SOME TRADES

About

A FEW WORDS…

Lester grew up in the studio with world class musicians (Hamish Stuart [Average White Band, Chaka Khan, Paul McCartney], Pino Palladino [D’Angelo, John Mayer, The Who], Robbie McIntosh [Joe Cocker, John Mayer, Norah Jones] and engineers (John Gallen [Queen, George Benson, Incognito] Steve Cooper [Jocelyn Brown, Portishead, Muse], Haydn Bendall [Massive Attack, Mariah Carey, Luther Vandross] passing through daily.

He cut his engineering teeth early on, watching, learning and absorbing from the pros and applying it to his own projects, developing a natural and understated approach to recording and production. Though he’s toured the world as a bass player and worked on primetime TV productions as an engineer, his main focus is writing and producing.

Alongside personal projects The Odd 910 and 2nd Exit (with Alfa Mist), featuring on tracks under his own name and alias Lester The Nightfly, and writing for production music libraries, writing and production credits include: Jordan Rakei, Pip Millett, Barney Artist, Alfa Mist, Kwaku Asante & more.

Committed to passing knowledge down to the next generation, Lester teaches Production Skills on the Jazz courses at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
